5 Hacks to Stay Sane During The Holidays//

As I sat down to write this, I laughed to myself because my husband may or may not disagree with me saying that I am "sane" during this time of year. Whether or not that is true...here are 5 of my top hacks to feel a little more organized and less like a crazy person during the busiest time of year.

1. Get a planner + notebook
Okay you know I am a firm believer in planners but ever since I got my new Erin Condren Life Planner and notebook this season has been so organized compared to last year. I like having the planner/notebook combo because I can make detailed lists in my notebook and not worry about taking up too much space in my planner. Of course sticky notes + notepads are always awesome too. Shop all my favorites + see my Erin Condren Unboxing {here}

2. Free Night
Having one night a week that you devote to dinner at home and relaxing on the couch is a must. I know that sounds easy, but during this time of year I am always running around after work and don't end up home until late. Make time to be with your hubby, boyfriend, roommate or by yourself and don't plan anything!

3. Light Candles
There is something about having candles lit in your home that makes it feel so cozy. I love either holiday scents or manly scents. I also love wax warmers. They are perfect for when you want that amazing scent in your home but don't want to risk leaving an open flame.

4. Take a Bath
Okay I may be an exception to this because I take baths every night - lol but I love dropping a few drops of lavender oil or a bath bomb in every now and then. Who says you can't bring the spa home?!

5. Listen to a Podcast
Traffic can be a nightmare this time of year. Take a deep breath and start an interesting podcast. I love mystery podcasts like Sword and Scale or Criminal. I promise you won't even mind the traffic after listening :)

Outfit Post: Okanagan Lifestyle Apparel

Working for lululemon has brought be in contact with so many rad people, living their dreams + going after their goals. One of my best friends from work, Carly connected me with this amazing company, Okanagan Lifestyle Apparel. Here is a little background on how they started...

Markku, the owner + creator of Okanagan Lifestyle Apparel, started out working as an educator at lululemon. One of the awesome things about working for this company is getting to come up with some bad a$$ goals and post them for guests to see in the store. Traditionally they are typed out on a template that gets printed out and lamented. Not one to follow the rules, Markku scribbled out his goals on a brown paper napkin and posted it up for all to see. One of his goals was to create his own brand. In July of 2014 Okanagan Lifestyle was born. Since then, they have had over 2000 online orders, 15,000 posts on Instagram using their hashtag and even did a collaboration with lululemon.

His story truly inspires me + hopefully leaves you guys inspired to go after your own goals. No matter how big. Shop all their sweet clothing {here}

Outfit Post: Black Is The New Black

Feeling down about my wardrobe? I reach for black. Going out and don't know what to wear? I grab something black. Feeling bloated and don't know what to throw on? BLACK! haha In all seriousness you cannot go wrong with a black outfit. This adorable dress is from Agnes and Dora! I love how you can tie the bottom, layer it with a cute leather jacket or flannel, dress it up or dress it down! It is the perfect staple piece.

Outfit Post: 90's Child

This one goes out to all the 90's kids out there :) Well guess what, the 90's grunge is back black chokers and all! How adorable is this look from Lizard Thicket? My favorite thing about this boutique is that you can leave with an entire new outfit, top + bottom or dress + vest/kimono for $80 or under. {Like my look below} And that is including accessories and all! That is just not possible these days. I am super picky with what I add to my wardrobe, one, I want to buy pieces I can mix and match together and two, I want them to be affordable. Its a win win in that department at Lizard Thicket :) If you are local check out the Dana Park location and be sure to tell them I sent you! xx

Outfit Post: Tie Dye Romper

I have been meaning to take outfit pictures in this romper since our trip to San Diego. I absolutely LOVE this thing. I got it at Pitaya and it is basically the perfect outfit for any occasion. I wore it more casual on our trip, then for Jeff's birthday dinner last month I dressed it up more like I am wearing it here. Throw on a statement necklace {Pitaya}, some strappy sandals {Lizard Thicket} a hat {Forever 21} and you are good to go!

If any of your guys are local, check out their store on Mill Ave. They have the SWEETEST girls working there and I always find amazing things :)

DIY// Decorative Trays for under $5

I have seen similar DIYs like this floating around Pinterest/YouTube and wanted to give it a try. One of my favorite things to decorate with are trays. The only problem, is they can be expensive and it is sometimes hard trying to find the perfect size for the space you are decorating.

Here is how I made all of these! Enjoy!

What you will need:

  • Frames - I purchased mine from the dollar store. All 4 for $4
  • Decorative paper - I used some scrapbook paper I already had at home that I had purchased from Michaels.
  • Scissors

1. Take the back off of the frame

2. Use the inner paper as a template for cutting out your scrapbook paper to ensure it is the right size.

3. Place scrapbook paper patterned side down and put the backing on.

4. Enjoy your finished product. ***This part is optional but if your frame is big enough, adding decorative handles on the side is also a cute touch.

Here are some examples of where I put mine:

*PS this spike necklace I featured on my Instagram @alyssamaywilson {photo below} yesterday - It is from Dear Heart Designs I am obsessed with it! I literally never take it off. Definitely check them out if you are wanting to wear something meaningful + unique.
