Wednesday Words Of Wisdom

“All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was na├»ve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself.”
- Ralph Ellison

I feel like we live in a world where people are constantly trying to be better then everyone else, and almost acting as if life is a competition of who has more/bigger and better things then the next person. I believe, especially since Facebook has become so popular, this "issue" has grown. I feel as though you may know someone through their "posts" on Facebook but then meet them/hangout with them in real life and they are a completely different person then who they portray online. I wish everyone could just BE THEMSELVES because no matter who you are, what your favorite band is, style, fashion sense, tattoos, piercings, whether your tan or white as a ghost, what color your hair is, what religion you are, where you work, or how much money you make, being YOU is AMAZING! Nobody in the whole world is YOU. You are unique and that is what makes everyone so different. YES, it is okay to be different. So for this Wednesday Words of Wisdom, BE YOURSELF!
